Jardim
In Jardim, Fabiana Preti brings into tension aspects of technical creation and natural creation. By employing hatching—one of the primary techniques of industrial drawing—in the construction of abstract landscapes, the artist alludes to the field of study of her training and subverts the normative procedures of its use.
The lines and dots that extend across the surface create a dense weave, intersected by areas of lower density that, in an interpretation alluding to the title, may refer to tree canopies or to vertical viewpoint mappings of vegetated areas. Preti draws on the precision and standardization of the graphic elements she uses to establish a dialogue that mediates between agitation and calm.
