Adendo

In Fabiana Preti’s sculptures, volume and the play of scale place pressure on the relationship between the viewer and immediate experience. The Adendo series brings together works that investigate wood and three-dimensionality within her practice. Deepening this language since 2023, the artist explores relationships among joints, forms, and silhouettes—as seen in the totems Achegado and Amado, from the same year, made in sucupira wood. In this same vein, the piece Atracado points to a conception of art that goes beyond language, emphasizing materiality and the sensory experience that demands direct presence in space.

In the more recent groups, Flutuante and Almado, Preti alludes to Neoconcretism and directs her research toward the relationships among color, form, and volume. Color is not applied onto a form; it is the form itself. In compositions cut into solid blocks that stand somewhere between the column and the cobogó, the dialogue between the two groups unfolds through a relationship between form and mold, in tensions between form and void, weight and lightness.
